The school was a college preparatory school that will help ensure students that they will succeed. The teachers always kept in the contact with the students and helped them with anything if they had any issue. The atmosphere is very warm, and friendly as well. I would recommend anyone to attend to the school, as I would strongly encourage my children to go there in the future, as it is a difficult school, but it does its job in help prepare anyone for college. My only knock against the school, would be the fact that it did not have a cafeteria, or any sports team, but they offer free food to students, and also people are allowed to go to YMCA through the school.

I have been a student at Open High all four years of my high school life. It is great school with under 200 students, we're all a close- nit tight family oriented school. Since our building is small we get to use the city of Richmond as our classroom! Traveling to the YMCA, and J Sergeant Reynolds Community college for classes. Using the VCU commons for lunch, being a student at Open High is really great.
Open High School is such a great school, and it's very different from traditional public schools. Aside from college prep, one of the main goals of my school is strengthening the school environment. We have an open campus, causing us to build great trust in our peers and administration. We also refer to our teachers by their first names, which creates a unique student-teacher bond.
