Oneida Baptist Institute is a decent school. I love that the school is very culturally diverse with majority of its students from all parts of the world such as myself. Academically, however, the school is not all that great.I do not believe that attending this school gives you an advantage academically or knowledge wise.It does not make you competitive and I wish the learning system was more rigorous. The school does have its good parts. The staff here are one of the most loving and caring people I have eve met and most of them are volunteer teachers. This school has its way of making you feel at home.

Since I moved to the USA and joined Oneida Baptist Institute, I've learned a lot, from manners to how to talk to people. I first entered this school for my Junior year. Because my parents are in Ethiopia and I had to be on my own, it was hard for me to get used to new things and try new ways. I wasn't sociable nor friendly. As months started passing by, I started opening up and talking to other students in my class. I slowly made friends, which helped me defeat my depression. Also, this school has helped me make my own decisions, become stronger and independent. Some rules I want to change about my school is the punishment they give students for not signing in and out from the computer room and not being able to walk around campus for girls. Other than theses two, I like everything about Oneida Baptist Institute.
My daughter went here for one semester. The school taught her to give up her bad attitude. However some things happened at the school that I was not told. She also came home 20 lbs heavier, all her clothes and shoes I had bought her before we took her to school were stolen by other students. She came home with a suitcase full of raggedy T-shirt she got from the charity closet at the school. I always dressed my kid well and she looked like a homeless person when I picked her up. She enjoyed the sports. There’s a lot of tough kids at the school and you cannot know who your kids going to hang out with. She learned some good things but I decided not to re enroll. I guess it was ok for one semester but on campus as a mom I personally felt out of place and couldn’t wait to leave so I went with my gut feeling.
