I'm currently a high school senior at Olympic Heights, and my experience has been incredible. Our school has come a long way over the years as far as safety and performance, and I'm excited for what's to come. I have felt that the math department was lacking pretty much throughout my four years, but I do know that the school hired at least 3 new math teachers this year. Hopefully it works out and our pass rates for higher level (AP) classes go up! Otherwise, every department has at least 2 really outstanding teachers and then a few really good ones. I wouldn't trade my high school experience for any other in the area, and I think the diversity of the student body (based on interests, race, socioeconomic backgrounds) presents a far more realistic representation of what the real world will be like, especially when compared with other public schools in the area. I'm thankful to have attended a school where differences between people were not frowned upon, but valued.

Olympic Heights high school has taught me how to understand material by really paying attention, and how to exist with others. Some of the teachers and administrators have unique and helpful ideas and goals for students. However, the school district and politicians do make it hard for most of the public school system to really function in a trustful and safe way. My specific school has very unhealthy facilities and an overall dirty environment. I think that if our environment that students have to attend almost every day were clean and uplifting, the students would thrive on that positivity. The student body of my school is a highly plugged in but unconnected den that has no school spirit, but who’s to blame? My school that I am about to graduate from has many issues but nothing that can’t be fixed.
I love the atmosphere of Olympic. The student body is very diverse and welcoming. Of all 4 years, there's nothing I'd really complain about. I've had great teachers that pushed me to try harder classes and helped me succeed in them. The wrestling team and coaches are amazing, as well as the athletic director, administrative assistants, and principal. The fine arts programs are equally amazing and underappreciated by the news. Those teachers work day and night to create beautiful performances and deserve more recognition, as well as the wrestling team.
