Olentangy Liberty High School Reviews

Olentangy Liberty High School is very large, and with it you can meet many people. It is always strange walking the hallways and seeing people you didn’t even know existed everyday. I really enjoyed the large school and the school pride present. There are an array of classes and the teachers really care. However, I would like to see a change in the way the school deals with cases involving bullying. As of now, for Ana cation to be considered bullying, it must happen many times and the victim must say stop, or else it’s just harassment. This protocol puts the victims in more danger and pushes kids not to speak up about it because it heavily favors the bully. That would be a crucial change that would positively effect the school as a whole.
Liberty was alright. The teachers could be a bit hit or miss. I had some great teachers, and I had some awful ones who singled me out. The general student environment isn't great. Powell kids tend to be very entitled and the environment is competitive. Liberty has a great arts/music program, and there are lots of class/extra curricular options. The biggest issue at Liberty for me was that while there were diverse options for taking classes/post graduation plans, they weren't supported or encouraged equally. It was very much pushed that students had to jump directly into a 4 year college. They actually had to stop publicly showing students who were going to the local community college because there was bullying occurring as a result.
My experience with Olentangy Liberty High School has changed my life in many ways. I was a new student moving from a different district and was extremely nervous. My middle school years were rough but the moment I came to Liberty I felt at home. The teachers are outstanding in their efforts and ways to engage students, motivate them to do their best work and honestly make us want to come back the next day. Our teachers take our mental health very seriously and are always reaching out to help with any thing they can outside of school. I love how I get to ultimately choose my schedule and what classes I feel will one, keep me engaged, two, help me with my future, and three ones I feel will challenge but push me to do my best. Liberty is one of the best high schools in Ohio and each year get better and better.
