I like the opportunities available and the variety of classes available. I think there is a duality that exists between the teachers and the students or something more accurately as an "us-versus-them" mentality. A lot o students here feel alone and there is a more individualistic culture here that accompanies the highly competitive environment. People are more motivated to self medicate and the rift between the ambitious intelligent students and the teens that have given up is large and seems to be expanding. I think that in general people here are ignorant to the larger world around them and in their ignorance, there are a lot of people who think that they are above it all.

So far, I have been mostly satisfied with Liberty. The academics are very impressive. Every class challenges the student (in a good way). AP classes are a lot of fun, even though they are hard. If a student really enjoys a subject, then taking the AP class is going to be a lot of fun for them. The amount of AP Classes that are offered are incredible and I know I can take which ever classes I would like. I even have classes that I really want to take, but can't because my schedule is so full. The problem is that so many students take AP classes just for the AP credit and end up feeling stressed. Pressure is a major downside of OLHS. The teachers really pressure every student to be getting A's. Yes A's are great. However, the teachers need to emphasize that getting B's is still fine and that as long as a student tries there best, there shouldn't be any stress.
During my time at Liberty High School I was constantly being challenged through academics and athletics. We have some of the top sports teams in the state and it has shaped by high school experience by constantly going to sporting events and cheering on my classmates. In academics, the teachers are excellent. I was always being given new problems to solve and if I needed help they were right there. One thing that I think needs to be changed is the class sizes. I know that is not a thing that the school directly can fix but it would be nice to not have 30+ people in a high school classroom. It would allow for more one on one time with teachers in order to really create that genuine connection.
