Olentangy is known to be a prestigious district. Being that I went to the original school, I had very high expectations for the school. To the most part it meet my criteria and went beyond. I liked the freedom and how every student is able to do what they desire. For example, I wanted to start a gardening club at my school and with a few paper works I was easily given permission to express what I love with other people. Something truly disappointing was the teachers. Either they had little to no care about you or they just treated you like toddles who were incapable of anything that required some thinking. While the AP teachers just choose to make us read and memorize the textbooks rather than digesting and actually gaining any sort of knowledge from it.
From Dungeons and Dragons to Weightlifting, Olentangy has it all. We have ranging athletics for both guys and girls that are consistently successful. Art Club, Language Clubs (French, German, Spanish) and Science Olympiad are welcoming to all students whether they are fully involved in the classroom, or just interested in checking it out. Teachers and students work together to run afterschool activities to tailor our school to the individual student.
As a senior at Olentangy High School, I have seen a wide range in teachers and their teaching style. Now being in high school you will find that every teacher has a different teaching style, grading style and they do everything differently. Teachers at Olentangy High School make it really easy to get help before, during and even after school if you are willing to put in the work as well. Having a great connection with your teachers is key I think, having a good connection and being able to talk to them about anything, being your grade, his/her classroom or just anything that is going on in your life, you will more likely have a better chance of succeeding in that class. Teachers that have students that want to succeed and learn are their favorites, they want you to be engaged in the lesson or the topic that is being presented. I have never had a bad experience with any teacher at Olentangy High School before, they are the most caring and down to earth teachers I have ever met, and they will do anything to help you, even if its not school related.
