Oldenburg Academy has a very welcoming environment. The students, including the upperclassmen, and the staff are all extremely kind and helpful. The teachers also prepare us extremely well for college, especially if you decide to take any advanced courses during your years at the academy. However, a few things that I would have changed about OA would be the disciplinary system and some of the staff members. I say this because often times, students easily get away with idiotic things that they should be punished for, even if it’s just a simple detention. As for the staff, a few off the teachers have gotten multiple complaints from students, and nothing has been changed. All in all, I’m glad that I will be attending my fourth and final year of high school at Oldenburg Academy in the fall.
I loved the atmosphere here. You have real connections with not only your peers, but also with the teachers. Also if you ever need help the teachers are always there for you. One time I got to school and realized I had a flat tire, instead of punishing me for being late, a teacher took his time to help me in my situation. In a lot of schools you wouldn't find that kind of relationship with teacher and student. Everyone at Oldenburg is outgoing and willing to be a help, for really any situation. When it comes to academics its pretty simple. Even if you are having troubles, teachers will reach out and help you to find a solution. This year I am in AP Calculus and it's difficult for me, but the teacher notices and comes up to me personally and helps me out.
