Olathe Northwest is a very welcoming school. It provides many activities and clubs, as well as the 21st-century program! The 21st-century program includes engineering and E-comm to help kids learn more about what they'd like to do in the future. Olathe Northwest also does very well in academics and the teachers are all welcoming and helpful.
I really liked how ONW has the technology available for students to develop their skills, from art to engineering. Many teachers actually want to teach you, and you can develop good relationships with them. There are many clubs to choose from, and a variety of classes to expand your interests. The Arts are especially great, from everything music to the showcasing of drawings, paintings, and photography. The main trouble here is with students, with bullying (see our homecoming news a few years back), and the teachers that allow or encourage hate. You will be able to make good friends here, though, and find the support you need to grow as a human!
It is about as good as high school gets. The things that I have to complain about are all first world problems. While we were eating lunch one day an announcement came over the intercom. The voice stated to my knowledge, "we are going to be celebrating suicide prevention/information week, you can come to the west side of the commons and grab some prizes and play games". I just want to say my friends and I found this offensive, though not really a big deal. Just sounded like they were making a joke about suicide. Not very funny to my friend group because a few of the members have been through depression. Administrators don't have control of the school, and they never will with the current staff.
