As a senior that currently attends Olathe Northwest, I’m proud of the teachers and staff, who care about their students both on a personal and an academic level. The students, however, are not as accommodating. Cliques are rampant throughout the school. Upon joining a certain club or activity, you are immediately associated with that group and the other people in it. Some students separate themselves from this situation, but they are few and far between. Nevertheless, they are the key to a more connected and accepting schoolwide community. All is not yet lost for ONW! If everyone procures the willingness to communicate with people from al kinds of social groups, we could repair this broken portion of our school. I’m hopeful that the future of this school is brighter than the current prospect, and that this disconnect will cease to exist.

What I love about Olathe Northwest is the diversity and differences of all the the people at ONW. My school has done a very good job at trying to include everyone and insuring that all the students have an equal opprutunity at being successful. Another reason I love ONW is because of all the volunteer opportunities available for all the students. Lastely, the preparation for college that ONW includes in their curriculum is extremely important and helpful for students who are not as privileged as others. The volunteer hours highly benefit the students for college and just building their character. The success that ONW has created for our young minds is very impressive and deserves to be noticed. All hail to Northwest High!
I like the building itself because it is very easy to find your way around without getting lost. The teachers are fantastic, especially the English teachers. The student body itself is very large, so it is easy to find a place where you can fit in. There are a lot of different clubs which makes it easy to find something you're interested in and if you can't find a club you like, you are able to start one. There can be some horribleness from the students because there are 2,000 teenagers who all have there own experiences and opinions. But on the other side of that, because there are so many people you may never encounter any bullying or harassment. Overall, Northwest is a pretty great place with good staff and a good environment.
