Olathe East operates at a level above the stereotypical "public school standard." The staff at Olathe East are exceptional! They're all approachable, dedicated and eager to help their students learn more. There's an abundance of extra curricular programs including sports, honor societies, political groups, STEM clubs, performing arts - whatever you love, you can do! The school also supports a very positive and encouraging environment to engage the student body. Varsity sports are very intense; but, that makes games fun for everyone (not just people in the stands, but also cheerleaders, the marching band and drill team). Olathe East is a quality, enjoyable, above average public high school!
I had a phenomenal experience at Olathe East. The atmosphere here is tremendous and it's really a top tier high school. From academics to athletics, in Kansas it doesn't get much better than Olathe East!
Most of the teachers and staff are nice and helpful although some are the complete opposite of that. Many of the teachers don't know how to teach or just don't care to. The building is fairly big and has a massive commons area which is nice. The administration has a hard time facilitating school spirit and keeping students under control. During my time at Olathe East there have been several fights that have occurred on school property between students, a few drug busts, and even one kid who decided to fight the school officer. I would say overall Olathe East is pretty fun although not the best quality of learning or the most safe environment as far as students go.
