Odyssey Charter School Reviews
Rating 3.84 out of 5 37 reviews
I have had excellent teachers across my years attending OCS Jr/Sr, with few exceptions. Many of faculty care, and it shows- however there is a clear dissonance between parts of administration and the faculty that works under them. The resources are not outstanding, but asking the right staff will always eventually lead you the right direction. The school culture is beyond abysmal, countless students are undriven and lack regard for anything relating to the Odyssey family-- some taking on an almost disestablishmentarian attitude. Despite the overall shortcomings and not giving a standard high school experience, there are the few members of staff who carry excellence in all aspects of their character and try however they can to reach the students they can. Many of the staff has changed by the time of my coming graduation, which will either make or break the campus' future. Some make the future look VERY promising. I will note that physical bullying is minimal, at least until recently.
I personally had a fantastic experience at odyssey. I've been at this school since vpk and will also be graduating from this school. I have been given many opportunities to leave this school, but I always choose to stay because odyssey gives me many vigorous activities to strengthen my knowledge. I have always shown courtesy towards the staff because they make the school a safe environment to learn. As someone who has been attending this school my whole life, I am very grateful to everyone who attends/ works at Odyssey because they are the reason I have been able to achieve my goals to pursue my dream.
One thing that I liked about Odyssey was that the school actually did prepare you for college and they gave students the opportunity to help out in various classrooms. Something that I would like to see change would be the staff. AT the school there have been various racist and uncomfortable encounters between students and teachers that have not been handled. Students would report these incidents, but nothing would happen or no change would occur.
