I've been to a lot of schools, most of them being private schools. When I first came here I was nervous since I'd never gone to a public school before, let alone went to a school with 3,500+ students. To be honest, at first I was really intimidated, but everyone is so nice and friendly that you really adapt quickly. The academics and teachers are excellent, and most of the students here are very academically motivated and competitive. The only negative thing I have to say is that the school is very over capacity, to the point where some classes have 35 and more students, and the hallways are always filled with a bunch of people. But overall it's a pretty good school; you won't regret coming here!

Obra D. Tompkins High School has very good academics and a wide variety of career based classes. For example, the Miller Career and Technology center is a co-ed school that is offered at Tompkins High School. The classes taken at Miller prepare the student for their future career that interests them. Some classes are Culinary Arts, Veterinary applications, Auto technician, and many more. Tompkins also provides duel credit college classes which allows a junior or senior to build up credit and hours for college. This prepares the student for college academics and early graduation.
I’m so happy I came to Tompkins! I love it so much. When I initially came to Tompkins I had no friends and literally within 2 days I had so many friends. Everyone is so sweet and so nice. The administration is so helpful and they do everything in their power to help you succeed in life. They have so many opportunities for their students too. They have a program where students can work with special needs students and help them have amazing days. The one thing I would like to see change is the special needs department. They often leave their teachers out of a lot of events and never tell them about anything that is going on. But the school is still amazing and I’ve even made future plans to be a teacher here.
