Obra D. Tompkins High School Reviews
Rating 4.25 out of 5 399 reviews
While attending Obra D. Tompkins High School, I felt very safe and happy. There were plenty of resources for students in every form, including extracurricular and academic support. I never felt scared for my own safety or of others because it was a calm environment with no threats. One of the best parts of my experience at my high school was being part of the girls' soccer team for all four years. Being at practice and at the games during my four years was a wonderful experience where I met my long-life best friends as well as taught me discipline. I do not have any bad experiences at this high school, and I believe it is a good place to succeed!
Overall a great school! Our motto is "make it a great day to be a falcon," meaning make everyday worthwhile. Embrace the small achievements everyday, and strive for excellence everyday. Which is what most of the days at Tompkins feel like. The teachers are great and they care about their students and their success, so if you ever struggling and need help ask you teacher, they will most likely be willing to work with you to get better. As much as the school is academically strong it is also really strong in sports. With almost every sport making districts and state. The academic competition is very strong here, and you have to work pretty hard to get good grades, but if you are struggling the staff and even students are willing to help. I personally was apart of the schools marching band, and even that was a strong program, supported by the school administration.
Tompkins high school is definitely considered to be one of the more competitive public schools within the KatyISD district. Our top 10 students typically have GPA's with 4.8 and above; however, do not fret! Although incredibly competitive, other high schools are just as competitive and this school will give you the best high school experience there is! Being an upcoming junior, I have met some amazing students and teachers along the way who are just wonderful and have taught me so many things that would be beneficial towards me in my future classes or even my future in general.
