I graduated from Tompkins High School in May of 2019. Words cannot begin to describe how thankful I am for Tompkins. The academic culture, the supportive and intelligent teachers, and the plethora of resources available to students allowed me to thrive and become an outstanding student truly! Furthermore, elite programs and resources like PACE at the Miller Career Technology Center prepared me for my future in medicine, and the course gave me my closest friends. My overall high school experience at Tompkins was unmatched. Due to the Tompkins's resources, my hard work, the staff, etc., I received admission into the BS/MD program with Baylor University and Baylor College of Medicine, of which only 6 of hundreds of applicants were chosen! Obra D. Tompkins is a great high school, and once you attend, you will forever be a falcon!

I very much enjoyed my experience at Tompkins High School. The school provides excellent learning abilities with award winning teachers, and excellent facilities. I, personally, have learned the importance of time management and self-motivation at my time here. I also grew a lot as a person with the help of their esteemed, award-winning Fine Arts Program. I, however, feel that Tompkins does not advocate for a well-rounded student as much as I would like to see. I see many students devote their lives to the advanced curriculum Tompkins offers, but they are not exposed to any other areas of life or to various experiences. Despite these concerns, Tompkins is a very elevating high school that produces many brilliant young minds that will be ready to excel in college. Overall, I am happy and proud to be a future graduating Falcon!
I have attended this high school for four years. With no other high school experience to compare Tompkins to, I can still say I have no reason to believe this school is inferior in any way to other schools in the KISD School District. The school has great teachers, is up to date on technology, feels safe due to the security guards always in the building, and is very diverse. The school food is, well... school food but has many options to eat every day. My favorite part of Tompkins has to be Teachers, Coaches, and Administrators. I find it easy to form relationships with them and all have a desire to help students succeed. My least favorite thing about attending Tompkins has to be the population of the school. There are many students attending Tompkins and the hallways are constantly crowded during passing periods. However, this leads to a great selection of individuals to meet and make friendships from all different backgrounds. I am happy to be graduating from OTHS!
