I applied, was interviewed and accepted into the Oakmont Health Careers Academy, which is a 3-year ROTC program with an emphasis on healthcare and career readiness. The program allows for students to gain hands-on experience with any of their partnered hospitals, and also get to establish important medical skills such as checking vitals and donning sterile gloves. I also made sure to take a variety of courses at Oakmont, including AP and IB courses, all of which have been fairly pleasant. A majority of teachers at this school truly enjoy their jobs, and have a visible passion for helping students. The one thing that had annoyed me since my freshman year however was how spread out the campus was. On rainy days, pedestrian traffic was a nightmare. Other than that, my high school experience was fairly positive and I really appreciate the community that the school had worked so hard to build.

The whole student body atmosphere is quite spirited and the environment is very supportive of students. Whenever a student is seen struggling teacher's do notice and will always reach out to provide extra help and guidance. As well as, the counselors they do a tremendous job of keeping tabs on students. They don't seem to hesitate to call up a student to their office when they seem to be struggling in classes. Also, Oakmont has three full programs that other schools don't have such as IB, AP, and a Health Academy Program. I am currently in their Health Academy program and it's amazing! I have so much hospital experience that I feel prepared when I enter into a nursing program in college!
Has the full IB Diploma program and a good amount of AP classes. Oakmont has a few clubs, but provides no funding for them. Teachers are very passionate with their jobs and are mostly willing to help you if you ask for the help. There's good resources for students to get help on their homework. They can either attend the math center after school for math related help or go to 5th period (which is also after school) in the library for help on other subjects. Overall, the academic her is very good, but there seems to be a divide on students who accelerate and those who don't. It's up to the student to make the best of it if they can.

Oakmont high school also has what is called the health academy which is a program designed for students looking to work in medicine/health care. It's a program that students have to interview to get in during their freshmen year and last until graduation.
