The school is very diverse which is what I like a lot about it. It makes me feel like I fit in. Lunch lines are very long but there are always clubs selling! School pride has been hard to achieve because we were out of a pandemic but homecoming really sets many people on to show their school (or rather grade) pride. There is a wonderful resource building called Shop 55 and we also have the future center for college readiness. I only wish that we started on college readiness earlier instead of our senior year. Overall, I enjoy my time here but I also acknowledge it realistically.
Oakland High School per my experience so far is a really good school. There are well trained teachers who are also always ready to meet the students needs when it comes to academics. There are also well trained counselors for every academy who are also always ready to respond to students with whatever they need not just academics. This is not to say that every teacher, counselor or staff at Oakland High is perfect, but they try their best to give you the necessary help students need.
The school compound isn't the best, but it is very beautiful and safe for everyone in it.
Some of the pathways / academies in the school are Visual Art academy, Law and Social Justice academy, Environmental Science Academy, Public Health Academy, and Innovative Design Engeneering academy. All these academies are there to serve your interest, to make sure that you get the option to choose whatever you want and all of the academies go on excursions.
OAKLAND HIGH IS A ONE OF THE BEST SCHOOLS IN THE BAY.

The community at Oakland High (aka O-High) is very strong, not only within the students but within the teachers too. Our teachers take their time to get personally involved with the students and show us that they care to a further extent than just our school work. Our Wellness Center provides us with many accesses that we may not be able to access else wear, such as counseling, therapy, check-in sessions, a place to do work, and provide us with snacks and lunches. The wellness center often will make hotdogs, nachos, or scoop ice cream for the students for free, at lunch with a big speaker playing music to bring everyone together. At O-High we have 5 different pathways to help us get a better understanding as to what we want to do in the future, for example we have Visual Arts Academy, Environmental Science Academy, IDEA (Engineering), Public Health Academy, and the Law and Social Justice Academy. We also have a specific pathway for new English Learners. At O-High I feel welcomed.
