There is an Oak Mountain spirit that is unlike most high schools! School tended to be very stressful with a large workload, but I took multiple AP classes. Most teachers are highly dedicated and want nothing else but to see each student succeed. They care for their students. Sports are phenomenal and win a lot! I thoroughly enjoyed my high school experience.

I liked how invested the teachers are in the students academic success. I wish there was more recognition for students involved in something besides the football team. We have a nationally renowned marching band, two regionally ranking show choirs, a top tier women's volleyball team, and other extracurriculars not available in other schools within our county (such as the ping pong club, the bowling club, the Gay Straight Alliance, the Make A Change Club, a photography club, a student led book club, and the Minority club) but they receive 1/10th of the recognition our mediocre football team does.
Oak mountain is a great school with teachers who care very much. The main issue is the parents who feel like their child is entitled to everything, and they exhaust the teachers and administration with complaining. But the clubs are all very student focused and there is a ton of school spirit. Drugs do tend to be a problem amongst a small percentage of the student body, but the administration addresses these problems to the best of their capability. I reccommend taking honors or AP courses if you are able, because the teachers are more engaged, and push you to do better.
