I transferred in towards the beginning of my junior year and graduated from there, and I had a fantastic stay. It is a VERY small school, so you learn everybody's faces and most of their names rather quickly. Cliques are present, but they are loose and friendly. Bullying is uncommon, though the occasional snarky comment is made and feelings can be hurt. This is a big deal at the school, and is therefore dealt with swiftly. The teachers are personable, helpful, and actually know the subject they are teaching. I would like if the younger and older kids had more chances to interact with one another, but I understand the difficulties. I absolutely recommend this school to you - just be prepared for a whole lot of homework that will show on your unweighted GPA! Also, sidenote: their college prep is extremely helpful.

Oak Hill is, all things considered, an excellent school. The classes are rigorous, the teachers are devoted, the students are driven, and the entire environment is extremely nurturing and supportive. I have never felt unsupported academically; the advisory system ensures that there is always help available to students who struggle.

The electives, extracurricular activities and clubs are led by well-qualified and passionate adults and students, and provide inexhaustible opportunities for involvement and specific learning.

However, there are some slight problems. Rather than providing necessary resources to existing programs, or providing teachers with a decent salary, the school emphasizes new projects that the administration believes will pad the school's profile for prospective students.

Additionally, the school provides a certain degree of support in the college application process, but certainly not to the extent I would have hoped from a tiny private school.
I absolutely love the community that is offered at Oak Hill. Everyone is family, and all of the teachers are there for you, inside and outside of the classroom. The support and the kindness that is shown at this school is incredible, no matter what the issue is you may be having. It's one big family and I couldn't ask for better friends.
