I really love NDP! The traditions, academics, and all of the amazing people have truly made my high school experience great! However, I just wish there would be more diversity among students. In addition, I think it would be great to have more opportunities for students interested in social sciences and english. While STEAM is great, and the new science classes are so cool, there are not as many opportunities for students interested in social sciences and english. If a student is not a part of the formal Humanities program, their class options are pretty limited when it comes to electives. Overall, I would really recommend NDP!

NDP is a great school, and most of the teachers are very friendly. But- there isn't any diversity. As a person of color, I experienced a lot of hateful comments and mean looks. They placed me in every picture- and played off like it's about how "good of a student I am." But it was obviously a poor attempt to seem diverse. Many NDP students were not exposed to diversity, and the first year was hard. Also- In the dining room there weren't a lot of healthy options. Don't get me wrong- I loved mozzarella sticks and fries, as well as piles of candy. But the only healthy option is salad - we need more than that! Overall, NDP has a lack of diversity and not enough healthy options for lunch.
The student body holds a sisterhood unlike any other school in the area. My class of 2018 sisters were my best friends. Athletics at NDP were amazing as our 2018 seniors were the state champions for both field hockey and lacrosse. Go Blazers! The majority of the teachers at NDP are passionate about teaching and encourage learning both in and out of the classroom. Many of my experiences at NDP allowed me to grow in my relationship with God, others, and myself. The only negative aspect of my experience was the head of the administration, who tried to put down social justice movements, even when they coincided with the school's mission. I also do not believe that NDP does well at advocating for students to be accepted to the highest ranking universities, even though the students who apply are deserving.
