I just graduated. I’ve had some extraordinary experiences, and some awful ones.
Classes were enjoyable, and the one-on-one attention is really unique. Thanks to once-in-a-lifetime teachers, the art program has become one of the best, and I feel privileged to have been able to be a part of it. I love the greenhouse! The college prep is good, but no better than any of the more affluent Oakland County public schools. The extracurriculars outside of sports are a joke.
School culture (students, teachers, admin) is generally hostile to people of color, scholarship students, LGBT students, sexual assault survivors, and students with mental illness/developmental disorders (!!!). A few teachers are bright lights, but you can tell they’re frustrated with admin–at the end of the day they’re powerless, and so are the students. Often feels like NDP cares more about advertising that they’re great than actually being great. See: Corona response.

I've absolutely loved my time at Notre Dame Prep. I've been here for seven years, from middle school through high school, and I have always been blessed with academic challenges. All of the teachers are very focused on making their respective subjects enjoyable and informative to us students. I believe that the extracurricular opportunities, such as clubs and athletics, are beyond what I could ask for. Overall, I have loved my seven years at NDPMA, and it will be a bittersweet ending to my student career when I graduate this coming May!
The class sizes are small and all the teachers are willing to create personal connections with the students. As an alum, when I visit home I still come in and talk to the teachers. They are the unsung heroes of the school. The academics are rigorous, offering both AP and IB classes. However they lack a variety of AP/IB classes to choose from. The school also prioritizes sports, which is good for all kids wanting to participate in athletics. The school doesn't prioritize the arts, both the choir and theater program receives little funding and they don't encourage students to engage in these programs. The school also engages you in the Catholic faith, requiring religion classes to be taken and having monthly masses that all students must attend. The ministry is still very aware of the fact that a large part of the students are atheist and they are accepting of this. I would say my overall experience was great but the school still has room to grow.
