I had bad experiences with the school in correspondence with their budget choices, favoritism in sports, and teachers assigned to wrong subjects. I can recall a moment where I was taking a makeup test in the science room, and I felt something fall on my head, turns out it was water damage and had now started crumbling down, that year we had gotten two new flat screen TV's but they still did not fix the worsening water damage. Another instance is when the coach for cheer leading had torn up the track at Spartan Stadium in Portsmouth because it was "ugly", now the track is falling apart with 100 meters missing and it looks worse then ever, on top of that it was where we had to run track. We found that after practice we would have painful shin splints as well as tendinitis due to having to run on concrete. Finally, they hired math teachers that had no training in the field to do so which caused failing national tests. Though the school had its perks, the flaws outweighed them.
Notre Dame High School is a good school. Its built on the Catholic Church and is strongly entertained with it. It’s key club is very good and works with the local Kiwanis. It’s a private school, and is expensive, but you can get scholarships and grants to help.
At Notre Dame High School, I have met many new people at such a small school. Everybody knows each other and it is easy to get along with all people. The teachers are very close to the students and will help you outside of the class period if needed. I am a part of various sports including volleyball, basketball, and tennis. The coaches are very understanding, great in instructing the sports they are part of and are like our second parents who take their time to get to know each and every one of the players, no matter what sport. On the other side, the building has been in the same location for years. It needs to be remodeled and cleaned. The school could also hire a new cook. Overall, Notre Dame High School has given me one of the greatest experiences that no other schools could have given me.
