Notre Dame Elementary School Reviews
Rating 4.17 out of 5 12 reviews
This school may be a hidden gem, but it’s well established with a long-standing history. I have three children here and can attest to the strength and quality of the education from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Strong values-based academics backed by the support of incredible teachers, NDE knows how to educate children, and they do it well. The entire community is so special - welcoming, inclusive, and focused on its Hallmarks. Small class sizes keep the community tight-knit and allow for more individualized attention. The school impressively pivoted to Distance Learning (learning did not stop!), and once again to a HyFlex model for reopening. The principal, Sr. Kathryn, is a steady leader. She listens well, values the children and their voice, and is methodical and thoughtful in her approach to leading the school. I have peace of mind knowing my children are receiving a strong education in a safe and friendly environment. I highly recommend checking out this school!
My review of Notre Dame Elementary is for the middle school only. It’s very structured, highly academic, lots of homework. The classes are all of an “advanced”/“honors” level quality. But from what I can tell, the kids rise to the challenge. They motivate & support each other. As a school community, We’ve had some bumps in the road with staffing - as you’ll read in other reviews here on this site. But, We have a pretty solid team now. All middle school teachers are passionate about their subject area. So... If your kid goes here for middle school, expect the bar to be held high. Expect them to work at least six days a week & to be up late a few nights a week studying. But if they’re up to it... you can also expect your child to become advocate for themselves. Expect them to develop a toughness that most adults don’t even have! Expect them to dream big! Also this school is pretty diverse & welcoming . Every is embraced here.
The strong Community & very small class size are the things that attracted us to, and keep us very satisfied with Notre Dame Elementary. With only 20-25 students per class- sometimes less- there is great individualized attention. We know all the teachers and our kids know most of the students- not just in their class- in the whole school! This is a hidden gem that not a lot of people even know about- on a beautiful college campus (though independent from the college) with nice facilities (a great new science lab) and caring administrators who have really helped to accommodate special circumstances for our family. Highly recommend Notre Dame Elementary.
