My experience at Norwell high school overall was very good. Although, I do not think the work load, especially senior year, prepares you for the college work load. I think the classes for senior should incorporate more of a college like atmosphere. I also, feel as though there is more emphasis on sports than there is on the arts, creating a lack of culture within the high school. On the other hand, I do feel that the majority of teachers put in an immense amount of effort into their jobs and their students. Also, I appreciated the fact that the teachers were very involved in the pep rallies!

Good student life. Involved administration. College level courses available.
It a very safe environment but when the administration is tested they usually disappoint. My senior year there was a serious bomb threat that was discovered before first period. No one was notified until fifth period, as the administration did not want to dismiss students to early to avoid making it up in the future. We were all gathered in the gym, where a bomb would probably be, and were told we could leave if we felt unsafe. They told us they couldn't find a bomb, although the school had recently gone through renovations for a couple years straight prior, and the note claimed the bomb was in the walls. Students were allowed to roam around the school freely, many students had to wait until their athletics practices (which weren't cancelled/moved). If something were to have happened everyone would have been in jeopardy, all to avoid a make-up day.
Norwell is a place that I have been around for years, even before I was attending the school. There are so many opportunities for younger kids to be involved with Norwell, like all of the kids camps for the different sports that are put on by the high school teams. Growing up in the commmunity and being involved in these programs has influenced my drive to succeed becasue I knew that someday, I could be helping with these camps like the girls I once looked up to. Now that I have nearly one semester left at Norwell, I have gotten to experience so many positives during my time here. Building relationships with our staff, learning more than I ever thought, contributing to each of the athletic teams I was involved with, and having fun in everything that I was a part of are all major takeaways that I can thank Norwell for providing me with.
