I’ve attended this school for three years, going on my fourth, and I think this school overall is pretty good. I think what makes this school so good are the teachers and students. The teachers really work to get us students to where we need to be, and prep us for life out of school. The principles and (past—we now have ALL new counselors) counselors aren’t the best and there has been some backlash because of that. The students do work well together, however. Everyone knows how to get along and accomplish what needs to be done. The school offers a diversity of classes that meet the needs of everyone here!

I thoroughly enjoyed being a Texan! The only reason Northwest High School wouldn't receive all five stars from me is because I am very intensely involved in their incredible fine arts program, and i feel that it does not receive the credit it deserves. The UIL participants in the choir, band, and orchestra consistently bring back straight 1s on stage and sight reading, but the football team who hasn't made it to play offs in over a decade get more time in the spotlight. Otherwise, i had very involved and gracious teachers who did everything in their power to help me succeed, and i found a family at Northwest.
Northwest High School is an interesting place. On the one hand students are expected to be responsible, and are given several opportunities to tailor their learning experience through AP courses, CTE programs, and several academic academies like STEM, CMP, EMP, and FFA. I have been able to have a very customized learning experience, and have gained several certifications that would allow me to enter the workforce more easily. Northwest High School has a lot of student involvement, and school spirit is very prevalent. College readiness is very important and is a focus for staff and students from the beginning of freshman year, allowing students to plan adequately for their futures. I feel that Northwest helped me in preparing for my life, and that the wonderful teachers created a fun, structured learning environment.
