It has excellent teachers and faculty staff! The visual arts program, the music programs, and counsellors specifically are all fantastic. The teachers are knowledgeable, helpful, and very experienced, as well as easy to talk to. Quarantine was difficult for every school, and there were some bumps here and there, but it was always known that teachers and counsellors were frequently available if you needed any help. Obviously dealing with loud and messy teenagers can be difficult and frustrating (the hallways can get a bit crowded, and there are some particularly rowdy students), but not any more or less than any other high school. All in all, I really enjoyed going to Northwest, and even though I didn't get a full high school experience (thanks COVID), I'm still gonna miss it after graduating this year.
Boasting one of the most diverse student bodies in the country, Northwest High School's disadvantages are easily counterbalanced by a strong community and a dedication to improvement. To start with some of the downsides, the retake system for tests and quizzes along with the "semester grade" format enables students to achieve grades much higher than what their effort deserves. These function to boost the school's reputation and image on the county, state, and national levels but convince teenagers that there will always be second chances and backdoor shortcuts throughout life. However, the teachers are predominantly experienced and personable in addition to their intelligence. The student community stands out as being very inclusive as well as eager to participate in the vast array of school events. Finally, the school handles minor setbacks swiftly and smoothly, unafraid to make small changes to improve the student experience and help the school run more efficiently.
While my experiences at Northwest are still continuing, I believe I can speak on this matter. I am a proud student, grateful to call this school my home school. Diversity in this school allows you to find your way and make friends easily. Yes, there are incidents regarding the school and their staff/faculty, however over the years, the school has done its best to uplift each other in times of need. Students have opportunity to not only get involved within the school, but also within the county. There is the emphasis for college-readiness that provides chances for scholarships and college visits.
