Principal is the best! He is so kind and understanding. The students are pretty welcoming, though some definitely need to be disciplined more. Most of the teachers are incredibly caring and helpful. Almost every teacher I have had, with the exception of about 3-4, have been incredibly easy to work with, flexible, open-minded, and respectful. Despite some really immature people, (though every school has that) the environment is pretty welcoming and accepting. My only complaint is the amount of money and attention placed on sports, as not as much is placed on other academic successes and things like the music and arts. Student body is very diverse, there's a place for virtually everyone.
Northwest High School is an excellent public school located in Germantown, Maryland. This high school promotes diversity and inclusion, as nearly three quarters of the student population is composed of minorities. Moreover, Northwest High School encourages students to excel in their studies by offering Advanced Placement as well as honor courses. Likewise, this school ensures college readiness by offering optional prep courses to students. There are a variety of sports, clubs, and musical cohorts that students can engage in at Northwest. However, one feature of this high school that could receive improvement is the cafeteria. Despite the great food service, the meals served during lunch tend to lack variety and tastefulness. Therefore, the cafeteria should offer a greater selection of food choices, which would help minimize the number of students who pack lunch on a regular basis.
I love this school! Northwest is the most diverse school I've ever been too, and you can make a lot of friends from different cultures here; I would say 80% of the people here are friendly, if a bit shy at times. Teachers care about their students and want to see them succeed, and the administrators are so nice. Wonderful clubs, great school spirit, competent sports teams - Northwest has something for everyone.
