One thing that stood out while I attend Northwest Early College High School is the community of teachers, staff, and students. I noticed early on that the small campus would have an important role in my academic and social interactions. Although there aren't many students, the amount of friends and memories I have made these last few years feel like I have made a trillion. Not only is everyone friendly and kind, but everyone always looks out for each other and wants the best for one another. My experience with teachers and their teaching methods is truly remarkable to me because I can always count on a one-on-one and get clarification on a lesson or lecture. Not only this, but teachers at Northwest Early College High School truly exceed the norms of regular high schools.
My high school experience has been so different compared to all the regular high schools i've ever heard of. The fact that we go to not only our high school classes, but the community college as well, gives the students a real perspective on the way they have to dedicate themselves if they really want to excel beyond high school. Because of the opportunities given to us and the focus on college, this school really creates goal/career-oriented kids. Being surrounded by people like that everyday, peers have the same drive and desire for the future as you do, is the most beneficial atmosphere that I have ever witnessed for a teenager. It really inspires me to work harder and keep going- even on my worst days. My overall experience at this high school is one I will always be grateful for, and i'm sure that is not the average answer you'll get from an adult when you ask about their high school experience. The early college life is one that I believe should be the standard.
I got into this school on my Junior year and it was a good experience. Like any other school it did have some flaws, they don't have an official sports teams, and their clubs are ok they have many but some require some work. Academically, making sure their students get their Associates before high school ends (or even earlier), and getting their students ready for college they're amazing at that. Also, the teachers are great for the students. They always motivated us to do our best.
