Northwest Career and Technical Academy allow students to experience potential career paths that they would be interested in. Compared to public schools, we have 8 classes and a wide variety of classes depending on your program area. For example, if you chose to be part of the Engineering and Design program, you would be automatically enrolled in three years of varying levels of engineering classes (including principles of engineering and civil engineering), as well as three years of Drafting and Design. The only reason I would give the school 4/5 stars is because of the lack of teachers in the more specific program areas. The Construction program at this school has not had a consistent teacher for the past several years, and that makes it increasingly difficult for students who don't have a certified teacher which results in a limited amount of hands-on learning. The lack of certified teachers has always been a problem at this school, and I'm not sure if it will ever be fixed.
Northwest is a very academically motivated school with great school culture. What it lacks in regular extracurriculars, it makes up for in academics and other activities that uplift school spirit. The teachers and students are great and the campus is kept incredibly safe. I enjoy attending this school!
I have greatly enjoyed my time at Northwest. I would not have gotten this kind of education anywhere else. I am a part of the Biomedical Sciences program and have learned invaluable things about the human body and how to heal it. This school values its students and does its best to help them on their journey beyond high school. The teachers, for the most part, care greatly about their students and will go above and beyond to help them. The administrators are constantly making sure the students know about college visits and scholarship opportunities and are readily available at most times.
