Northview High School Reviews
Rating 3.89 out of 5 675 reviews
I love the staff of our school. Everyone is truly wonderful and I have never met a teacher and not liked them. They actually are considerate of their students and care for them in the classroom and outside of school. I've always felt welcome here, ever since I came from the 3rd grade. I've met all of my best friends here and made lifelong connections through this school. I couldn't have attended a better school!
As a student who chose to attend Northview High School for its ranking as the second-best public high school, I deeply regret my decision. Here is my top two reasons, although I could list more without the word limit:
1) The administration does not prioritize students' well-being. One of my friends experienced harassment and sought help from their counselor, who scolded her for not reporting it sooner. Consequently, nothing was done to improve the situation.
2) Northview is a great example that teaching skills are unnecessary. Many teachers prefer making sarcastic comments over assisting students. Although not true for all, it is certainly true for most. For instance a teacher of AP Computer Science Principles, gave a pop quiz on cables, which was irrelevant to the AP exam and was not discussed in previous classes. Everyone scored around 40%, and commented, "Lowering grade averages builds character," and laughed at those who scored poorly.

Northview is really an institute for ‘higher’ learning. All of the classes are designed to be harder, to be better, compared to other schools. The people are overall really nice, and welcoming; so are most of the teachers, though a lot can’t really teach. The food is alright, better than middle and elementary respectively. The competition between students is really overwhelming, but once you take yourself out of that mindset, the school environment is super enjoyable.
