All three of my kids attended NCA from PK-8 grade. We loved the teachers and staff at NCA. They were very caring, enthusiastic and engaging with my children. My kids still talk fondly of their days at NCA. They still have many friendships that started at NCA. I strongly feel the core values they learned and were instilled in them have made them the successful individuals they are today.
A school with dedicated and hard-working teachers. The parents are warm, big-hearted, and welcoming. A great community of people!
We truly love NCA. Why? The small class sizes, the focus on the whole child, the very reasonable tuition and the way the teachers really take the time to get to know and work with our child. We had the opportunity to leave NCA for a while, to explore what we were thought would be greener pastures in Chicago schools -- only to realize, NCA is really the best place to be. We are thrilled to have our son here. An added bonus: the academics even align with our family's focus on social justice and celebrating the true diversity present within Chicago and our world.
We originally found NCA while searching for a local full-day preschool program, and we realized right away it was where we wanted our son to be through eighth grade. Caring and accessible teachers who work with students as individuals, a strong focus on academics, a diverse student body, small class sizes, an emphasis on social justice, and a truly wonderful and welcoming parent community that works together. The summer camp program is a bonus, too. So glad to have this school in our neighborhood.
Absolutely wonderful school community. The teachers really care for the overall well being of each student.
We love NCA! Their commitment to quality education and school community is second to none! The staff and teachers go above and beyond to meeting all the needs of our students and families.
It's a very welcoming school. Parents and children feel comfortable leaving there children there. Its very easy communicating with teachers and staff. Classes are small. And students get full attention
This is our second year sending our daughter to NCA who is preschool age. Our daughter learned sign language from her teacher last year and still remembers !! We love the diversity and that there is after school program.
Our daughter has been at this school from pre-school through 8th grade. We were very happy with the primary school experience, however the middle school education and experience has been subpar at best. Retention of teaching staff has been a problem as well as teachers not teaching at the grade level and our middle schoolers are behind on common core math and science, compared to the public school system. Parents have to hire tutors to prepare their kids for high school. It has been very disappointing.
Great teachers & caring administrators- very organized and good communication with parents. Areas that could improve would be having more ‘back up’ or substitute teachers available for the occasional unforeseen departure or maternity leave coverage. It’s a great community.
We have been a part of the community for a number of years with two children. We have been happy with the school and would recommend it to other families.
The dedication of the staff and administration to providing social, emotional, and academic support while delivering a high standard of education to every student is beyond compare. The community of the school is also something few schools can match. The number of alums who return to send their children provides so much institutional knowledge and memory.
Great school with excellent teachers and a caring parent community. Great athletic program and the test scores consistently rank above the national average. Students place into top Chicago High Schools each year.
