Northpoint Expeditionary School gave me the opportunity to grow and be successful, without the feeling of abandonment. During my four years at Northpoint, there were multiple times when I needed some extra guidance and I was fortunate enough to receive that from the teachers and even the principle, Mr Mentken. The teachers care for each and everyone one of their students success. I appreciated the amount of dedication Mrs. Wagoner has for her students. Nothing makes her happier than seeing her students move forward. Overall not many chances need to be addressed. I will say, when I was a student there, there were multiple times when the internet did not work. But this might even be unfair to add, because college internet can be a bit iffy too! Northpoint is a wonderful school for those both outgoing and introverted. There's a little bit of adventure from everyone, and the curriculum really gets students involved and out of their shell. This school can definitely be stressful, but it is worth it in the end. There are amazing academics, travel opportunity and real world experience presented in a safe and loving environment.
My experience at Northpoint. (Known as NELA to the students and staff) was plagued with a lot of apathy from the teachers and student body, instead of the mostly young teachers being passionate or excited about their craft, they were mostly apathetic and unprofessional, and often times I didn't feel like I'd truly earned my grades, especially with my diploma! The other issue with the school is the complete and utter lack of diversity, the majority of the population was white. Everyone seemed to come from a similar alternative left mindset, and no one was open to new ideas. Some of my classes were jokes, especially my senior Physics class in which we discussed "the soul" and other spiritual aspects, simply because the rest of the class believed the math to be "too hard".
