Northern Lights Christian Academy is an incredible school with good kids and great teachers. The teachers are there to help the students grow, and each student's needs are addressed in a personalized manner. Kids are encouraged to grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Unfortunately, there are no club or sports opportunities at NLCA, since it is a small private school.

I love my school. I have attended Northern Lights Christian Academy since the 3rd grade. I have so many memories. Mrs. Wilson was my first teacher and she is so sweet. She was always patient and kind. The great thing about my school is that you have the same teacher for about 3 years and even when you move up, you still get to see those teachers. They become like Aunts and Uncles. After Mrs. Wilson, I had Mrs. Welsch. Mrs. Welsch is the one who inspired me to become a teacher. I was in her class from 4th - 6th grades. She made school so fun. She gave pioneer breakfasts and had us do oral presentations from our favorite books. I loved dressing up as my favorite character, it made reading come alive. My goal now is to become a upper elementary teacher and reading specialist. Through Jr. and Sr. High, I had various teacher for different subjects. Mrs. Read took us on many history field trips and gave out great history projects. I love the STEM team challenges in science, Mrs. Warner made subjects like math and Psychology fun. She also had us over to her home every Christmas for a party. Pastor Warner made the Bible come alive and I really understand it now and love studying it. Mrs. Gronning really helped me understand English. Mrs. Kollmorgen kept gym interesting even for those of us who are not as athletic and would rather be reading. My favorite subject throughout all the years has remained literature and history. This is my senior year and my teacher's just want to help us reach our goals. This year I have been able to use my studyhall two days a week to return to Mrs. Wilson's class where I get to be a teacher's aide and help the early elementary students with their reading and phonics. I have been with my best friend Paige since 3rd grade when we were both new students at NLCA and this year we graduate together. I have made so many other friends, some who have already gone off to college and some who are still here. It has been great.
Our teachers are knowledgeable and if they don't have an answer, they will find it. They don't just teach from a textbook; they use projects and activities to make the subject more interesting. Our teachers really care about the students and will try to help if you having a problem, even if it means giving up their private time to come in early or stay late to help. We even have teachers who give out their cell numbers and allow you to text them if you have a problem with homework. I think our teachers work hard to be consistent in their policies and grading. Every class has the same homework policy, grading scale, and late policy. If I were going to critique an area, it would be the time it might take some teachers to get grades back to the students. Some teachers have test and homework grades quickly and with others you may have to wait a few days. Overall I believe we have the best teachers of any school.
