Northern has been an interesting experience for me. I have not enjoyed high school like my friends around the county have. Our school has zero diversity and is very political with who’s parents are sponsoring where. It’s all about status and it’s very upsetting. My closest friends go to different schools and all love their experience. Wish I could say the same. The few good teachers had are run off because the kids don’t try they just expect the grades, and parents in this area live through their children and run them away.
I really enjoyed this school and it atmosphere. It was really good place and helped me to be ready for college. Although I wish that while I was enrolled more in this school that it would of been able to help more with the process of apply for colleges and help me really get ready. I also wished that this school would help me with looking into majors and gave me course and things like that to show me different majors I could be apart of.
Northern Guilford stands by its statement of diversity. We have all races, religions, as well as all identities at Northern Guilford. We have many people that identify as transgender, pansexual, etc.
I liked my teachers and felt challenged, but not overwhelmed, in my classes. The school culture was pretty unified, as far as high schools go, but at times could feel very regimented. As a student-athlete, I appreciated the administration's emphasis on athletics, but I wish my fine-arts extracurriculars, like chorus and theatre, were given more support. The population of the school grew significantly during my 4 years there, and I definitely think that it affected academics, if only due to the increased number of students per teachers. Although I felt well prepared for college when I graduated (and my experience in higher education so far has proven that to be true), I think that NGHS administration and faculty could improve their engagement with lower-achieving students to extend beyond disciplinary measures. This may, in return, inspire them to put more effort into learning, decrease class disruptions, and improve feelings of inclusion within the school community.
Most of the teachers are amazing but there are a few that grade unfairly even during the hard time of online schooling.
Northern Guilford high school, while lacking in diversity and struggling in the S.T.E.M. departments, has excellent facilities when compared to those of any other public high school in the county. While there are a number of seemingly inexperienced teachers, that is true of nearly any school. Nonetheless the academics as a whole are fairly impressive and yield high average testing scores. The graduation rate also speaks to itself and the overall success of the High school's ability to offer a well rounded four years of primary education and leave students well equip for any future educational endeavors.
Northern Guilford High School is one of the best schools in Guilford County academic wise. They have little diversity, but I think that is the county's fault, not the school. Their sports are mediocre, but not the worst. I would recommend this school to those looking for a stellar academic school, but other than that it is average.
I liked most of the teachers at NGHS. I loved many of them! The school could be run better, though. And my peers weren't always the kindest.
Academically, the school did a fantastic job withe education us students. The teachers were phenomenal and helped students through any problems they had. I enjoyed my time there and had very little issue in all four years of high school.
I love the amount of school spirit and love that everyone has for my school. Most of the teachers are amazing and want to help you learn.
I don't like my school. It has a lot of internal issues and it is not a comforting place to be. They focus way too hard academically and don't give you space to grow. It is not fun at all and lacks diversity and creativity.
I liked the fine arts department, Mr. McDowell, and Mr. Simpson. The faculty sucks otherwise. Nobody cares about the students. They only care about who’s vaping and who isn’t.
Northern Guilford High School offers many resources and opportunities for students to excel and succeed past high school. Northern has a great range of teachers that want your children to do well and become greats people in the community. In addition, there are many clubs and sports for your child to be involved in that looks great for college resumes.
I love my high school! I'm a junior at the time of this writing and I'm really sad that the rest of the school year is cancelled. I love my school and I miss my friends! :(
This school has a few amazing teachers that make my experience well worth it; however, most funded is provided to the football and sports teams. There are few art/theater opportunities.
My experience at Northern will be one to remember. I met new friends and had a great time all four years. One thing i would change about northern is the student parking.
The environment and staff of Northern Guilford is very friendly and establishes personally relationships with each student. There is a variety of clubs, organizations, and sports for students to involve themselves in and become active in their school. Academics are depending on what a student puts in, but overall, it is a great school to be a part of!
