I went here for only one semester in 2013, so I'd take this with a grain of salt.

Teachers were a huge hit or miss. I had some that were life-changing and then some who were borderline abusive. The good teachers were extremely kind and accommodating and were always willing to help me after school. I recommend coming here as a student interested in art because the art teacher here is fantastic. I was there for such a short time but he made such an impact on me and my future art career.

This school is very LGTBQ+ friendly, which was incredibly awesome. I can't think of any other schools that are as safe for LGBTQ+ teens.

Not a good place for kids struggling with mental illness, from my personal experience. This is probably a given, but because it is a private school it does not have the same accommodations and psychiatric support as some public schools have. It was unfortunately the reason I had to leave and go to Yarmouth High School. I am not sure if NYA has a therapist now.

I have been a student here since 7th grade, and I could not be happier! The teachers are amazing, the students are incredibly friendly, and I have made incredible friends during my time. The cafeteria has great food, and the dining staff is always willing to help you with all of your needs (allergies, diets, etc.).
I am very appreciative of the facility, staff, and students who have made the North Yarmouth Academy my home for the past two years. While NYA is not perfect and there have been challenges with the culture, the exceptional staff sought to quickly resolve them and has never failed to provide me with a top education. At NYA, I had the opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone and become involved in athletics, music, drama, clubs, leadership, and service.
