I like the experience I've had here but there is room for improvement. The communication between administration and students is not very clear. There is much miscommunication on how we sign up for something like college courses. In my experience email responses took a very long time. Most teachers are great although some teaching styles are not helping get students ready for college. Many classes have strict rules and follow a curriculum. Although they do offer college courses which is great. The courses allow for high school and college credit. The building is very old and could use some updating although it is still in great shape. One thing I would fix is the air conditioning. This is because in certain rooms throughout the temperature differs. I would prefer if the school had more opportunities regarding classes. Such as if they had a zoology course. This would have helped me decide sooner if that was the path I wanted to go down.
It has been very challenging since the Covid virus hit especially when school went to 100% remote. I’m glad to be back in class! My teachers were very accommodating throughout the transition to remote learning and also returning to classroom instruction.
North Ridgeville High School has provided me with multiple challenges, both positive and negative. There are a variety of Honors and AP classes to choose from. Their boys soccer program has developed into being one of best athletic programs in the school, and it has provided me with a great deal of physical, emotional and mental stress. But this stress is able to be transformed into positive development and growth, in large part due to the culture and bond built between the players and coaches. The staff has been very supportive of me, especially when I needed intervention. They have also greatly improved their lunches over the past few years. On the other hand, the school has had problems properly controlling and punishing students for drug use, bullying and racism. There are problems with overcrowding and the bathrooms and lunchroom are outdated.
