The school would be great had the school not focus on giving students who arrive to school late a detention. The administrators says "it helps prepare the students for the college life" but in reality it doesn't, a student could be 2 minutes late and still have them waiting in a long line for a detention slip. It is ridiculous! I have been 5 minutes late before and after waiting in that line i end up missing 50 minutes of class. I've complained about it before but the only people who would see is the people that are in the school daily. Once an important visitor is coming there is no lock out.

My fours years experience at North Miami started off new for me. Growing up I've only been to private schools. So changing from a private to public school system is a big change and kind of scary. It's a big change for the grading system, how certain teachers teach, how the class schedules are, lunch/lunch food, school spirit, sports, school activities during/after school, the amount of students in the class, consequences, the people in the office(administrators)...etc. The only thing to me that I can say that is the same between the both are the students. Some people think just because you went to a private school doesn't mean you're a goody goody. All students are the same. Whether public or private ALL STUDENTS ARE THE SAME NO MATTER WHAT.
I was in the IB Diploma Program, it was very good in this school. Normal high school academics are also good, but you get some bad teachers here and there for certain subjects. Overall, very good school that provides good college opportunities upon graduating!
