Now, North is a fantastic school for solidly mediocre or below average students. A pipeline for the perfectly underachieving, which is infinitely better than what it once was, but still.

Sure, this place has all kinds of pretty looking institutions running inside of it, such as the City Year program, JROTC, Engagement Center, and their increased amount of counselors and social workers. These are all lovely, but ultimately useless.. The teachers are unfair to students who have had a rough history, and play it off as “tough love”.

The embedded honors program is a cheap excuse for academic excellence, and though, it helps struggling kids, it is painful and abusive to any truly gifted students. A cheap AP program, a pathetic execution of discipline — honestly, who cares if the students are late to class? If a school with only 12% of their students being proficient in math and English is claiming to grant success, they are lying.

As a student and baseball player, I enjoyed my time at North. Very student oriented and teachers actually care. In addition there are multiple resources for students for things like students, or college advisors, etc. Great atmosphere, spirit, and sports!

I loved the amount of diversity and acceptance. There was always something new going on to keep students involved, whether that be a club activity or spirit week. I loved going back every single year!
