North Fort Myers High School Reviews
Rating 4.11 out of 5 501 reviews
This year was my first year at North. I actually quite enjoyed it however there were some bumps. We had a few pep rallies and a bunch of movie nights. The football games are highlighted at our school along with out arts! Arts is a big part of North’s history. Our band department is involved with many of our events and helps out so much. It’s an experience many of the students are involved. Even though I’m not in band I know many people who are and they enjoy it so much! Another big part of North is the AICE program. I am a part of AICE and recommend it for students with high grades, capability to do harder work, and also do good on timed tests. AICE looks good on college applications. I do have to say that you just definitely get involved in the clubs at North especially the ones that raise money for children’s hospitals and help out with the life skills classrooms. All in all North Fort Myers High School is an amazing school and I recommend it for students in Lee County!
Although North Fort Myers High School's community was diverse and inclusive, the quality of the learning environment was lacking due to teachers relying heavily on online tutorials. Some teachers were ill-prepared for high school-level instruction, while counselors provided little guidance on college preparation, such as scholarship opportunities and application processes, leaving students to navigate these challenges alone. Moreover, COVID restrictions lasted longer at North Fort Myers than at other schools in the county, which negatively impacted school-wide events and the overall high school experience. To improve the educational experience, North Fort Myers High School should prioritize in-person instruction with engaging and interactive teaching methods.
I came to North Fort Myers High School about halfway through my sophomore year of high school. To be completely honest, I hated it. I didn't want to move in the first place, and the school didn't make things any easier. I found it difficult to connect with the students, it just felt like they didn't care, and most of my teachers made little effort to help me get adjusted. I oftentimes felt overwhelmed and completely out of my comfort zone. It wasn't until my junior year of high school that I started to fully adjust to the school, I joined the marching band and started doing dual enrollment classes which allowed me to broaden my academic horizons. While I still never got the feeling that I was fully accepted or wanted at the school, it offered me amazing opportunities and provided me with all of the support I needed to be a good student, even if I couldn't connect with the people there.
