Since starting freshman year at NC, I have loved the environment and continued community we grow each year. All around the school, you’ll see the saying “We are family” and it really is true, we care about, respect and taking care of each other like a family. Along with our outstanding spirit, we also have incredible learning opportunities. Our IST wing has a college level lab where classes like biomedical technology are offered, introducing students at young ages to the possibilities that science illuminates. In my experience here with all the teachers I have personally had and the teachers that I have only met, they care about you as a person first and your education as a close second. They work hard to prepare you in an educational sense but also with real life skills so that you will be more than ready to take on whatever path you choose after high school.
Teachers are all very nice and understanding. Science program is known across the country for its microbiology and specific high-class tech/ microscopes. School doesn't devote much to the arts, but the teachers especially for theater and band are incredible and extremely passionate about teaching and providing opportunities/support. The football team sucks and only wins maybe one or two games a year, but they are mostly known for their cross-country team instead which competes and makes it to nationals. Lots of clubs and opportunities to find your 'group' of people. Has college advisors and College Success Foundation to help students progress and make the next step, especially financially.
North Central had was a very supportive school. When I was attending the staff were very attentive when it can to my well being. In terms of my mental health educational ambitions, and when it came to my health as someone living in poverty. It wasn't perfect, but I knew that the staff there genuinely wanted to see me doing well and put effort into helping me. It's been a few years since I graduated so I can't speak in perfect accuracy. But I know some of my favorite staff members and teachers are still working there, because they helped me recently apply for college.
