North Catholic High School Reviews
Rating 3.7 out of 5 94 reviews
When asked to provide my best and worst experiences at North Catholic, the worst far outnumber the best. The majority of NC’s administration are nothing but incompetent, and money-hungry; they make participation in school life/extracurriculars burdensome for both parents and students. NC preaches that “all are welcome” but the lack of support offered to students is unnerving. Teachers deliberately ignore students’ academic support plans and refuse to follow accommodations set in place. The guidance counselors do nothing to change this even after students consistently report this behavior. Teachers even criticize students about their personal political views and make cruel jokes about a students’ non-Catholic religious belief-clearly choosing “favorites” based on these criteria and treating the rest with disdain. I could go into far more detail, but all I need to get across is that NC is in no way welcoming once your student steps into the building and shows up authentically.
I daughter has been at NC for 3 years and is doing great academically and socially! She loves the small class size, the ability to take Honors and AP a classes to challenge herself and the opportunity to play a sport. I also like that the teachers know her and me personally and make themselves available even after school. They also support the Catholic faith.
Overall, I would recommend North to anyone who is abled-bodied. I would not recommend it to anyone with chronic medical conditions, as they are horrible with following through on accommodations. They have a sketchy drama program which is basically run by a retired teacher who picks horrible shows. I feel bad. The teachers are hit or miss. Some were amazing, and some were absolutely horrible. The sports programs are overall okay , but not amazing. I know the hockey excel program is good.
