My experience at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics was something I never would have imagined. Everyone is so welcoming, considerate, and supportive of who you are, your goals, and what you're interested in achieving. With highly-qualified instructors and professors, students are able to engage and learn the material in intelligent and innovative ways and are welcome to share their ideas and pursue an area they are interested in. With many research opportunities available for all students, they are able to gain important communication and responsibility skills as well as pursue research on a topic of their interest whether it be an independent project or one under the guidance of a mentor or teacher. I am currently doing research under a mentor at UNC in the field of cardiology. Aside from academics, NCSSM has over a hundred clubs ranging from Bhangra to FBLA to chess club, even Disney club!

The school I am currently attending is phenomenal! The admissions works hard to cultivate community, which has been a major impact on my experience. I feel as though I have truly connected with people and have met some of my best friends. Also, the academics are some of the best in the country. There are many research opportunities including Mentorship (working alongside a professor at UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State, etc), individual research (application based), summer opportunities, and more! Coming from a rural high school, the decision to go to this school was hard, but it had an amazing pay off.
