I have loved being a student at Normandy high school! The camaraderie between the students fuels me to come to school everyday and the teachers are PHENOMENAL! They really engage with us and tries to relate what we’re learni g with the modern world. Our administration has done a fantastic job with implementing the rules and following through on what they have always told us. The new superintendent is doing great work for our schools and community, putting a focus on what the students need and what will propel our district to be one of the best.

Paint chipping in the staircases, missing ceiling tiles, and only one nice bathroom in the whole building. It’s hot in the winter and freezing in August and May. My school does a poor job of informing students about the ACT and SAT and why they’re important to take. The only time the school reminds its students to sign up for these tests is the last ACT before the November 1 early action deadline. School spirit is lacking. Pep rallies put the students to sleep. Our administration’s system of rewarding students is by far the most bizarre thing at this school. Instead of rewarding students for exceeding expectations and excelling, they reward students for doing the bare minimum and doing what they’re already supposed to be doing. I enjoyed most of my classes and teachers, because I took my education seriously, unlike many of my peers.
My experience all together at Normandy High School was a memorable one! I ran Cross-Country and Track and Field for 4 years and I couldn't say there was another team I would have rather spent those four years with. The coaches are absolutely phenomenal, every time I needed advice on something, they were always there to give me some. However, the academic side of Normandy was even better, considering we didn't have the best of the best equipment to use, we made use out of what we had. The teachers always found time to go over topics in class that you didn't understand. While being extremely helpful and wise, they also had their comedic side, almost everyday it seems they made us laugh! Lastly, the students always helped one another and got along. I ranked my school as four stars since our school is in jeopardy of closing because of financial reasons and I hope for it to remain open for the academic and athletic opportunities of the upcoming classes.
