Normal Community High School is a very welcoming school! I like how the students and staff get along very well. The conflict is more amongst the students and the personal issues they have with each other. I hope for in the future, mediations between conflicting students with school counselors. It may not solve the problem but will help minimize it.

Normal Community High School is average for the Freshman and Sophomore years. When you are able to take AP classes during your Junior and Senior years, academics improve to very good. As with many schools, there is a wide variety of teachers - some just show up, and others excel at teaching.

Extra curricular activities are varied, and it is easy to start your own club if you have a specific interest. It is a large school with over 2000 students, so you can sometimes feel overwhelmed. An area where greater improvement can be had is college preparation. The college prep counselor is helping the majority of the students, so if you are a student who wants to reach for something other than community college or local universities, you have to do quite a bit of work on your own.
Normal Community High School is a school of high quality. In Bloomington, IL, there are two main high schools that students go to; Normal West and Normal Community. It's my second year there and I have to admit, NCHS has taught me many things. There are many resources for students. For example, we have a College and Career Counselor who helps us with our goals in life. First semester, we have many colleges come in from everywhere that talk about their school and steer us in the right direction. The staff are very nice people,a lot of the teachers there don't even feel like teachers. They're more of an older friend who guides us in our lives. Many students at NCHS feel comfortable and safe with the teachers because we can trust and talk to them when we have any problems. Our social activities are also very entertaining. Our school has a lot of spirit, during football games, our section is always filled with NCHS students.
