The general teaching, preparatory college action, and safety and wellness of Nolan Catholic is generally pretty good. They offer a wide variety of classes with different subjects and different teachers. The cafeteria serves wide varieties of choices to offset stagnation, and the cleanliness is generally very good. The teachers were, by far, the most interesting part of the school. Some were very excellent at teaching and preparing advanced topics for the students, while some seam to struggle with their daily planner. Given this, alongside the fact that the administrative hierarchy was constantly changing, did not make it feel like it was sound body, but a conflicting one. Math and technology are good overall, but the science department as a whole seems to be lacking substantially. The main concern is that the teachers in AP do not really teach AP material needed for the test, which usually reflects in low class numbers and low scores.

Had a decent experience, however, the administration makes upward mobility and taking more difficult classes harder for student who didn't start off on the right foot. Very little encouragement to work harder and improve, I started off as a somewhat average student and left as one. Since graduating I have seen how much potential I truly have and have excelled in the scholastic environment. I have also retaken some standardized tests and scored 200 points higher on the SAT after only one year of a college education. The school aims too much at getting students into college but doesn't really care where they go or how successful they become. Nolan should rethink how it teaches its students about success, when you shoot high you land high. Unfortunately, however, Nolan shoots just high enough to keep their enrollment up, and no more.
I am more than halfway through my freshman year in college at St. Edward's University in Austin. Nolan truly prepared and set me up well for the course work I was to take on in college. While some of my college colleagues struggle with their course load, I do not. Nolan teaches you to value your school work, your family, all the while value your faith. Go vikes!
