Nixon High School is a school with a very high population of Hispanic students that’s are striving to graduate and continue educating themselves at are local university. We are a high school with about 500 to 600 senior students that are dedicated to being involved with activities in our school . We have a magnet school for arts & theatre which is top in our city as well as other organizations such as, choir, chess, athletics, band, National Honor Society, and technology. Our basketball team went to the state play-offs and are nationally ranked which is great for the school. I, myself have been playing varsity softball for the last three years and this will be my last year so it will be bitter sweet being a senior now. The teachers are also very helpful in the classes. They have helped me tremendously in my classes since I have a learning disability (dyslexia) so I sometimes struggle with my reading and takes me longer to finish with assignments.

Hello , I would like to give my appreciation to Nixon and it’s students and staff for welcoming me into a new school and district. I attended uisd all the way up to my 8th grade year and my 9th grade year i went on to lisd where i went to Nixon. They are amazing people and teachers who don’t give up on you and only want you to succeed and i’m grateful for that. Forever green and gold!
I love everything! Its just a beautiful and positive community and i wouldnt change a thing. I honestly love how everyone is so positive with eachother and how we can get together and achieve alot of great things without having problems!
