I have been attending NISD schools for the entirety of my school life. I am a current sophomore at NISD Health Careers High School. My experience in their schools have been very positive. They have very nice and educated teachers who are always trying to give their students the help they need to succeed. NISD offers extensive fine arts and sports programs that can provide stress outlets for students when they need them. The classes offered at NISD schools are numerous. AP/DC classes ensure we are ready for college. I feel bullying is a bit of an issue in some NISD schools. The NISD Safeline has tried to ease the problem, but I am not sure many know of it.

I have attended Harlan High School for the last three years. It's an excellent school, with great opportunities for students to succeed. Overall, the teachers are very helpful. Most offer before and after school tutoring. The school offers a "flex" period twice a week, where students can "flag" themselves for extra help in a class they are struggling in, and get extra time in that class during the week. The athletics programs are top-notch and the teams do very well. There aren't a lot of cliques, and students get along. There are a lot of college prep courses and a lot of students are enrolled in the dual credit program and AP and Pre-AP classes.
Overall, my experience as an NISD student has far exceeded my expectations from when I initially moved to San Antonio. The atmosphere in NISD's high schools is not what is portrayed in the movies; fights are kept to a minimum, teachers are respected, and students respect each other - as well as school property. The culture and pride that each school senses in itself is encouraging, to say the least. All of our schools do have fun rivalries with one another, but, at the end of the day, our school district is close and we all feel a sense of kinship with one another. I wouldn't change a thing.
