My high school was a very rough but growing time. However, my high school experience only assisted me in growing. The teachers I was lucky enough to learn from all fueled my success during high school. Either as my biggest advocates or as doubting bystanders, the people of Newport High School helped to catalyze my early mindset of drive and success. Academics were heavily enforced and have more than prepared me for the rigors of college. Socially I felt included and accepted throughout the entire school. If I could, I would send my own future children to Newport High School.

Newport is a school that is filled with academically-driven students that want to be accepted into the "elite" colleges. Most of the teachers are motivated and are willing to go out of their way to teach subjects, and based on every class I have been in, students pay attention and are not distracted. Academics are nearly perfect at Newport and it has all of the resources a student needs for success (they give out laptops to every student), but it is still not as competitive in terms of popular sports and is not very diverse. Asians make up more than half of the school (hence its competitiveness and academic success) and students can feel odd at times, especially if they fall behind in their studies. The food is not good. Overall, Newport is a great school for competitive students wanting academic success.
Newport High School is a strong academically-driven school that aims to give their students numerous of opportunities, especially in education and technical fields (when looking at electives). It is a school that truly prepares students for whatever journey they choose after high school. The teachers and faculty at Newport High School is very understanding and very aware of the stress that the students may have in such a competitive environment. But Newport Students know how to have fun in their own way I think and we can all still find some memorable memories from our high school years.
