They make things easy for you and they are always willing to help as well as great at giving you many recuorces. I love our block schedule and open periods. I also think that much of our staff is amazing! However, just like any other school, there is a lot we can work on. Especially in terms of departments being on the same page. There are some teachers who are not on track with others and so students who are taking the same course but have different teachers learn completely different things. This is very true for our math department. Also, while it has gotten better in the last couple of years, our sense of pride in our school as a student body is fairly low. In reality, we should have a lot more school spirit-- we go to one of the most beautiful schools ever and a lot of our teams and programs aren't half bad.
Newport Harbor was like a family and the teachers and administration were always there to help me if I needed it! All the teachers really care about their job and want you to succeed. I would say that Newport Harbor emphasizes sports more than the arts, but I think they are making an effort to broaden the extracurricular activities represented at the school. Overall, it was very challenging at some times and a lot of fun at other times, especially when I found my core group of best friends.
