There is so much to get involved in on campus! Especially since it's a small school. There is different clubs you can run for. The hardest one to get into is the Associated Student Body because you have to make a speech in front of the whole school on election day and the whole school votes who they want as officers for the upcoming school year. There is National Honor society, the requirements are to have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and be involved in other things outside of school. Class officers, you plan different activities to do with the class, the class votes for the people they want as officers. There is also international club where you eat, talk, and have fun. Anyone can join that one! The last one is running club, if you like to run and aren't involved in a sport join running club! Each club has some form of commitment especially if you're an officer. The Associated Student Body officers have to put in the most time and effort because they are the ones who plan events for the whole school like banquets, spirit weeks, etc. There is also four different varsity sports you can join, such as volleyball, flag football, soccer, and baseball/softball. They also have intramural sports where anyone can participate; the teams are composed of students from the school. The school has a choir, select, choir, praise band, band, and strings club. If you are musically talented this school is for you! Any of the things I mentioned can be fun it just depends on what you think is fun and what you make of it. The administration supports all of these different clubs and activities as long as they are appropriate.
Admission to Newbury Park Adventist Academy is not difficult as long as you have not been expelled from the school you attended before applying to Newbury. The school does not offer any AP classes, it only offers honors Alg. 1 and Advanced Alg, 2. If you took Alg, 1 or Geometry in middle school you will be required to take a placement test to determine if you're ready to be placed in a more advanced math class. The school is big on making the cost of attendance affordable so if you let them know what your parents income is they will work in helping you find the best out of pocket cost as possible. If you had good grades and were involved in school you could qualify for the worthy student aid program, they offer jobs on campus so you can find a teacher to work for and get paid for it, and if you're lucky someone can sponsor you and pay for all of your tuition!
What I think about the overall experience of Newbury Park Adventist Academy is that it is very nice having a smaller number of students attending the school. I feel that that is a big part of our school because having less students in each classroom makes it more of a one on one with the teachers. Another great thing at our school is that we are very culturally diverse and its great to talk to and get to know people from around the world at your own school. Lastly, one of the things that make our school great is that it is very spiritual and God is the center of all we learn about in class.
