Newark Comm. High School was an interesting experience, to say the least. The teachers were amazing and the students built such close connections to them so that if anyone was struggling, they could feel comfortable enough to go to someone for help. That being said, the student population has no diversity. There is a lot of sexism, racism, (lots of isms) that goes on unchecked because of such an anti-progressive culture. If you're conservative/white/christian, you'll thrive here. If you're poc/a democrat/something other than christianity, you will probably struggled somewhat like I did.

There aren't enough space, teachers, or students to have many advanced classes. Therefore, a lot of students are not as challenged as they should be. Teachers are extremely willing to help students, but Newark does not have the resources to keep up. Recently, there was a vote for major improvements to the school, but was denied due to expenses. Newark is a very close-knit town and parents, teachers, and students are very involved in school. We are far better at sports and extracurriculars than schooling, however.
It was a close knit family like environments. All the students made new students and younger grade levels feel welcome!
