Administration listens to the kids when they say they need help and/or want to add specific classes. They add new teachers to accommodate students wants and needs as much as possible.
I’d like to see higher quality food offered. Possibly locally grown/organic options. Maybe local farms would be willing to donate and/or give a discount?!
Primarily a boarding school, parents are not as involved as non-boarding schools. It would be nice to get the community more involved to bring in more school spirit (especially since most parents are unable to attend sporting events).

Dedicated first rate teachers/professors- some hold doctorates in their field; bucolic historical campus; challenging classical education ( no common core here). We love that the teachers have the flexibility to adapt a course to better challenge the students. Not only is my daughter getting an education, she's learning survival skills for the 21st century. Should she need extra help, tutoring is always available at no additional cost. Superintendent Dolan, Ms. Reeves and all school faculty have shown their commitment to providing a safe, dynamic school environment. As parents we are very happy with the education our daughter is receiving at NYMA. We look forward to seeing the improvements currently in the works on campus.
My son started NYMA this year. Going in, I had certain expectations and NYMA has exceeded most. During conferences, I was floored with the warmth, enthusiasm and involvement of the teachers in my son's life. The students enjoy more traditional education without Common Core. It's certainly not the "everyone gets a trophy" organization that public schools have become.

My son is being exposed to students from all over the world and enjoys celebrating different cultures. Cadets have nice activities and food is good (he just wishes they had snack at night). The medical staff took excellent care of him when he was sick. He is also enjoying the emphasis on sports program.

To me this is a military-style school offering more structure than most schools, but not the ultra-strict, conformity that some might expect from a traditional military academy. Overall, he is happy and I am happy that he is there making life-long friends and gaining leadership experience essential for the real world.
