Teachers put extra effort into their students and preparing us for college !The people here are amazing! After I graduate I know it's this community I'm truly going to miss the most. Besides just the people, students here have the most amazing opportunities- like our clubs and sports offerings. New Town High school truly gives students the space to grow. The opportunities for learning within the self are endless. I have adopted a true growth mindset at this community, learned from my peers, which represent youth from every quarter. This community is equitable, kind, generous, and truly incredible. My teachers believe in my potential to succeed.

New town high school has a well organized staff that is very professional and they all have a goal to help the students of new town as much as they possibly can. The teacher are very supportive and helpful because they will take time out of their day to inform you on missing work and assignments you can improve on and the school has an after school studying program known as “coaches class” which last about 1 hour. The school is majority African American so it’s not very diverse but the school accels in sports, clubs, culture, and parent involvement due to most of the students wanting to wanting to be successful after highschool.
My experience at new town was mainly good I learned a lot from the teachers especially from the math department and also the English department. The school tries to enforce the test taking of the SAT and Parcc testing. The bad moments were that the algebra 2 teachers were very bad and taught math incorrectly but the rest of the math teachers of Calculus, College Algebra, Statistics, Trigonometry, and Pre Calc were great.Other problems such as students always in the hallways being rowdy and lots of fights occurring in the school. I also have problems with the amount of students in the school that skip class. The changes that must be implemented are more hall sweeps and more enforcement of the rules to improve school culture. The other problem that I have is that the school tends to glamorize athletes or the academic students. This can be changed by more celebration of academic achievements.
