New Technology is a very different school in its way of teaching. We use project-based learning for every class. This can benefit come students or be bad for others, but generally, most students succeed in this environment. We also have integrated humanities classes. All English and history are one class over two periods. This cuts down the number of assignments we have, but the projects in these classes tend to be bigger. We don't take tests in most classes which may seem like a benefit, but it leaves students ill-prepared for college. New Tech is mainly composed of white and Latino students with a spattering of African American students. We have one sport: Ultimate Frisbee. New Tech prides itself for its computer science and design classes. There are seven in total, but our math is lacking because of the PBL environment.

New Tech is a special school that gives you real world skills such as presenting in front of crowds to the use of powerpoint. However, the academics of New Tech are lacking. If you are looking for a hardcore academic experience, New Tech is not the place for you, but if you are looking for a place to hone in on personal skills and working in groups then it is! I would suggest being extremely involved in your community and taking a multitude of college classes to keep up with the rigor of the coursework of the other high school students. The community of New Tech does not compare to other high schools. It is an accepting environment as well as a creative place. I would say that with a community of 20-25% LGBTQ identifying community that it is an environment that is safe. Overall, New Tech is a good high school that will give you real world skills that other high schools won't teach you.
I really liked how we were encouraged to work in groups, improve our oral communication and presentation skills, and improve on our creativity. There were many frustrating moments, however, when group members would slack off with no punishment and projects were launched with no connection on how they were relevant to what we were learning.
