Though New Hartford prides itself on being one of the best High Schools in New York State, I did not learn much from it. Though I had some good teachers, there was never any real sense of community among the students, teachers, and administration. It was a quite typical "cliquey" and divided school. Also, several of my teachers were not the best. I find, years later, teaching myself the things I should have learned in class then. Many teachers were also biased -- I remember one of my history teachers specifically being biased against Republican politicians. Was not the worst high school every, but would not do it again, even if you paid me.

Also, did not prepare me for college AT ALL!

The New Hartford Central School District prepared me for college. Going into college, I knew how to write a professional and college-level essay, how to take thorough notes, which help me to better understand the material being taught, and how to be independent and responsible. Due to the large amount of homework I received from seventh grade to twelfth grade, I am able to handle the assignments I am given in college. The teachers, faculty, and staff are willing to help every student and provide aid in any way they can. New Hartford Senior High School taught me teamwork, how to be inclusive, to be friendly, to be prepared and organized, and how to be a well-rounded and successful student. However, New Hartford Senior High School should prevent students from using their phones in class and give consequences for inappropriate behavior that could hurt and/or impact other students and school staff.
I believe that the school could use better integration between technology courses and computer science courses, as well as more computer science opportunities in general. Additionally, I would have preferred courses that don't feel like they are preparing for a test at the end, instead of actually covering the content of the subject.
