New Century is a very open and welcoming school to grow in. The teachers all wish to see you succeed, getting to know you both in a personal and academic level. There is plenty of clubs to chose from to help broaden your knowledge as well as provide you opportunities to stand out. The STEM classes are a great chance to experiment with career choices before having to pay in college. While they do offer good information, the resources specifically in the engineering and computer science strand are good a high school but not amazing. That being said, the school offers plenty of chances to meet real world figures and employers that most other high schools cannot. My time there helped me grow significantly and I believe if it wasn’t for NCTHS, I would not be as successful as I am today. I highly recommend at least learning more about the school if you are interested or even taking a tour.
New Century is an amazing school for academics. The only critique is that the culture of the school can become so focused on forcing student success that the students get overwhelmed. Students at New Century are some of the most stressed out students in the district because of the work load and expectations. Despite this, the teachers are very helpful and do want you to succeed. Tutoring opportunities are available for almost every subject.
I've been at New Century Technology Highschool for all four years in high school and I don't regret one thing! New Century is a public magnet high school that is focused on computer science courses, biomedical courses, and engineering courses. These courses and the STEM-based ones are phenomenal! A great learning experience and exposure to your potential career field!
